Who we are
MealGen AI ("we", "us") provides AI-generated meal plans, nutrition tracking, and shopping lists for iPhone. Questions about this policy: support@mealgenai.app.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address and authentication credentials (stored as secure tokens) when you register or sign in.
- Nutrition and planning data: meal plans you generate or save, food preferences and filters, meals and water you log, custom calorie and macro targets, serving adjustments, and shopping lists.
- Apple Health data (only with your permission): we read dietary nutrients and your latest body weight to display statistics and set defaults, and we write meal nutrients to Apple Health when you connect it. You control this in the Health app and can revoke it at any time.
- Camera and photos (only when you use them): barcode scans and nutrition-label photos you choose to scan or select, used to extract nutrition information for your logs.
- Subscription status: whether your account has an active Premium subscription, verified through Apple. We never receive or store your payment card details; Apple processes all payments.
How we use your information
- To generate meal plans from your targets and preferences, and to enforce weekly generation limits.
- To display your daily and weekly nutrition, macro, and hydration statistics.
- To sync nutrition data with Apple Health at your direction.
- To operate, secure, and troubleshoot your account and our services.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use HealthKit data or your nutrition logs for advertising or marketing.
Sharing and service providers
Your account and nutrition data are stored and processed on our backend servers so the service can work across sessions. Meal-plan generation is performed by an AI model provider that receives your nutrition targets and food preferences (not your email or Health records) to produce a plan. Barcode and label lookups receive only the barcode value or label image you submit. We share information only as needed to run the service, comply with the law, or protect our users.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account and nutrition data while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@mealgenai.app; we will delete it within 30 days except where retention is required by law. Deleting the app removes locally cached data from your device but does not delete your server account.
Security
Data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS. Access tokens are stored in your device's Keychain. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit access to personal data to what is required to operate the service.
Children
MealGen AI is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We will post updates on this page and update the effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app where practical.
